One Book
- a Title V Initiative
Gavilan College One Book, 2018 is:
"You know what you're doing? I'll tell you what you're doing. You're beating the drum for justice!" He had an impassioned look on his face. He said it again emphatically, "You've got to beat the drum for justice. " - Just Mercy, page 46
What is One Book?
One Book programs have been established nationwide to promote literacy and to engage all members of a given community in a lively, intellectual conversation based on their shared reading experience. In this way, students, staff, faculty and administration will share a common experience: the One Book. The One Book Program is a campus-wide initiative encompassing all disciplines, all class levels, and all members of the campus community. Bridging literacy and engagement, participants read pre-selected books, engage in campus discussions, and take part in projects that address contemporary issues raised by the books.
